Posted February 15, 2019 06:00:37When it comes to Israeli “bulldozers,” there are a number of reasons for it, said one senior Israeli official involved in the project.
The first is that the vehicle, which will be built at the Iron Dome missile defense system’s Binyamin factory in the southern city of Ashkelon, is already widely used in the field.
“It’s a very simple, but effective, tool,” said the official.
The second is that there are some Israelis who don’t like the vehicle’s name.
“We call it the ‘bulldog,'” he added.
The third is that Israel has a long-term interest in the vehicle.
“You can see from the name that this vehicle has a lot of history.
We have a very long history with the ‘dog,'” the official said.
“I know that the Americans think it’s too close to a human being, but we don’t want to get into that.
We want to make sure that it’s a real machine.”
The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the project, which was announced on Tuesday in the official Israeli media, with no further details.
The “bulldog” will be similar in design to the Iron Force, the Israeli Army’s first major acquisition in 2017.
That acquisition was aimed at boosting the Iron Forces’ ability to protect the country from short-, medium- and long-range rockets, and the “bull dog” is expected to replace the existing Iron Dome system, according to the Israeli military.

The Israeli military has been using the “panther” for years, and its development is expected in phases, with the first unit to be deployed in 2020.
“The first unit will be equipped with two cannons, the ability to shoot down short-range projectiles and the ability for the tank to take hits from rockets,” a military official told Haaretz newspaper on Tuesday.
“The second unit will carry the new cannon, which is called the ‘panthe,’ and will be armed with two tanks and two bulldozers.”
“We can’t just wait for 2020,” the official added.
“There are also some important steps that we need to take to prevent the possibility of a repeat of the 2014 war in the Golan Heights.”
In the latest incident, the “Bull Dog” rocket system fired at an Israeli infantry outpost on Tuesday morning killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded three others, and killed an unidentified Palestinian in the crossfire.
Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon later told reporters that the “battle was a massacre, and it was not a friendly fire.”
He also said that the incident was not “accidental.”
According to Ya’aron, the rockets were fired from Gaza and came from the southern Gaza Strip, a territory Israel captured in the 1967 Six-Day War.
Ya’analon’s comments came after Hamas said it fired rockets at Israeli targets in the Gaza Strip late on Tuesday, and said the rockets came from a territory that Israel captured from the Palestinians in 1967.
The “bulldogs” are a project that has been a long time in the making.
The Army developed the concept several years ago, but the plan was not publicly announced until 2016, according a senior Israeli military official.
It was the second such Israeli project, the first being the “Bint Magal” system.
“This project will be a major breakthrough in the development of a modern military platform,” the senior official told the AP.
The new “Bulldog” is likely to replace what is currently known as the “Malkil” system, which relies on artillery.
