How to tackle a Broncos offense and defend a Broncos defense article What are the Broncos offense, defense, special teams and special teams coordinator spots?
I have been asking myself this question for months now, and with each new coaching hire, the answers to these questions get easier to answer.
With the first wave of Broncos coordinators, including Vance Joseph, Todd Bowles and John Fox, having taken over the team in 2017, I wanted to know how to tackle each of these jobs and find out what position each of the coaches holds.
Let’s get to it.1.
Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Todd Bowle.
Bowles is the man to beat.
It’s no secret that Bowles was Denver’s offensive coordinator from 2016-2018.
While his offense under Bowles wasn’t spectacular, it certainly was functional and was capable of getting to the football.
The Broncos had the second-most yards of any team in the NFL (1,527), were third in scoring defense and ranked second in total offense.
However, Bowles has done little to alter that narrative.
His defense was ranked 15th in the league in scoring (30.5 points per game), fourth in points allowed (45.7) and sixth in total defense (169.8).
If the Broncos can continue to improve their offensive line, their offense will be able to compete for a playoff spot.2.
Denver Denver Broncos wide receivers coach, Kevin Gilbride.
Gilbrides is the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers.
While Bowles’ offense didn’t go the way the Chargers hoped, Gilbriding’s staff has had success in developing receivers and running back DeAndre Hopkins.
The Chargers offense ranked 14th in total yards (2,543), 11th in points (25.7), and fifth in points scored (34.9).
The Broncos receivers have a chance to be a top 10 offense in the AFC.3.
Denver Chargers running backs coach, Jason Kelce.
Kelce has a proven track record in the position.
In 2016, Kelce led the Chiefs to the playoffs, winning the Super Bowl, and the next year, he led them to a division title and the Super Bowler of the Year Award.
The last two seasons, Kelcis run the Broncos running backs effectively, allowing just 5.4 yards per carry, including an average of 3.3 yards per rush.
He has a knack for getting the most out of his running backs.
He should be able add some talent to the Denver running game.4.
Denver Chiefs defensive coordinator, Jim Tomsula.
Tomsulas defensive coordinator position is a position that has been filled by some very talented coordinators in the past.
His last head coaching job in the National Football League was with the Houston Texans where he was able to mold the defense into one of the best in the game.
Tamsula is an excellent offensive coordinator who can create mismatches on the perimeter and bring some much-needed help to the run game.5.
Denver Rams defensive coordinator Jim Tressel.
Tressels name should come as no surprise, as Tressell spent a great deal of time coaching with the New York Jets during the 2017 season.
Trees is a good football mind and is known to bring a lot of energy and passion to his meetings and to his job on the field.
The Rams defense was fourth in scoring in the entire NFL last season (28.4 points per contest) and fourth in total defenses (158.2).
While the Rams defense is still young and developing, the team should be one of those teams to have a shot at a playoff berth this season.6.
Denver Nuggets head coach, Brian Shaw.
Shaw is the defensive coordinator of New Orleans.
He had a great year last year, leading the team to a Super Bowl appearance and also to the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.
Shaw will be looking to build on last season’s success, as the Nuggets finished the year with the seventh-best defense in the NBA.7.
Denver Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
I have to admit, I am a bit surprised that the Patriots have not hired a head coach for their coaching staff.
Belichick has been a head coaching favorite for a long time, and I think it’s only fair that the fans get a chance.
If Belichick gets a chance, he should take it.
It would be an interesting hire for a coach who has been in New England for the last 25 years.8.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.
Reid was a member of the Chiefs coaching staff in 2018 and has been the head coach of the Kansas City Rams since 2017.
He will be in a great position to develop a good defensive unit.9.
Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson.
Jackson is the head football coach of Ohio State and he is a great football mind.
I know I am not the only one who would be interested in Jackson’s
